Post Circumcision Care & Recovery
Post Surgery Care
Post Circumcision Care is the most important part of the process. The doctor put a petroleum jelly-based ointment right after the circumcision. And as there is no surgical stitching in the ZSR circumcision process, the recovery is fast compared to alternative procedures.
For babies
The babies often feel a bit fussier after getting circumcised. The healing post circumcision takes around 7 to 10 days for the newborns. The diapers need to be used very carefully in the initial days. You can bath the babies but make sure the dressing does not get wet for first few days.
Give regular Panadol and Nurofen to keep baby pain free.
For adults
The adults need to rest for the few days. After that, they can carry their routine activities, can start their work if it is not a strenuous job.
Few instructions are given like no swimming, or heavy lifting or gym, no sexual activity for a at least 4-5 weeks. Some discomforts might be felt for few days due to swelling but the swelling will settle in few days. Apply ice to the area for first few days. Take some Panadol or Nurofen for few days. Dressing instructions will be provided to you.
Issues which need to be reported
- Temperature of 38 degree Celsius or higher.
- Bleeding that has soaked the dressings and not stopping.
- Any spread of redness around genital area
- Moderate or severe swelling under the skin incision or involving the scrotum.
